California Academy of Sciences:
The Blue Whale

Academy Studios was contracted to repair, assemble and install a 55 year old 90 ft. Blue Whale skeleton. The California Academy of Sciences research team consulted with us to make it one of the most anatomically accurate whale skeletons on display in the world. Most whale skeletons don't account for the compression of the skeletal form that results from being under high pressure at great depths, but this assembly does! With 80% of the original skeleton intact our artisans fabricated miscellaneous ribs, fin bones and parts of the scull. Engineering obstacles proposed by the building were overcome in order to suspend the skeleton as if weightless.
