The Village at Corte Madera
Corte Madera, CA

Landscape architects, Royston Hanamoto Alley & Abey contracted Academy Studios to produce a series of whimsical bronze animal sculpture for The Village at Corte Madera's courtyard fountains. Oversize ducks and duckies on parade, frogs with umbrellas in fountains and fishing pelicans captivate visitors of all ages. Children scramble, touch and play with these stylized bronze animals, while adults also find themselves lured by the lively and humorous ambiance exuded by the animal characters. Each animal is cast in bronze to withstand outdoor elements of the fountains and frequent visitor handling. Dispersed throughout the lengths of the shopping center's central courtyard, these sculptures add a world of magic and delight to the commercial scene, bringing out the kid in everyone.

The Marin Humane Society
Novato, CA

The Marin Humane Society commissioned Academy Studios to create outdoor sculptures and donor signage for their new ideal dog park. Our artisans fabricated naturalistic bronze animal sculptures, and not just of any generic animals, but actual portrait sculptures "Skippy and KD" real dogs owned by the donors of the park. The sculptures were cast in bronze to endure outdoor elements and frequent handling by park visitors. We developed park signage, including sophisticated graphics and logo medallions on topics of appropriate dog park etiquette and recognition of the park's donors. Locals and their animal companions are seen frolicking in the park daily.

San Jose Mall
San Jose, CA

The renovation of the San Jose Mall in 2006 was designed by Landscape architects, Royston Hanamoto Alley & Abey using the theme of "San Francisco Back Bay Stream and Habitats" for water elements and landscape details. Academy Studios was commissioned to develop a collection of playful and intriguing outdoor sculptures catering to kids. For our artisans the idea of creating a series of local animal species, such as, newts, dragonfly's and fish evolved naturally out of that theme. Cast in bronze these Bay Area animals endure their local weather and user handling. Crafted in a stylized fashion these playful animal personalities become a highlight of any kids trip to the mall, making the commercial activity an enchanting experience of wonder and a discovering of their "backyard" animal friends.
