Academy Studios designed and fabricated a number of exhibits and elements for the new California Academy of Sciences, including a giant Blue-Whale, African Hall dioramas, Steinhart Aquarium tank inserts, and several Interstitial Exhibits and more. This local project has drawn international acclaim for its scope and caliber of environmentally concerned architecture and exhibitions. Many may not realize that the history of Academy Studios itself is tied to the California Academy of Sciences, starting as their off-site exhibition facility formed by Dean Weldon who was then their Chairman of Exhibitions. In 1990 Weldon turned the original Academy Studios into his own company.
